In 27th January 1867, a small school started by Miss O'Mara under the pastoral guidance of the Parish Priest, Father O'Reilly in the first Catholic Church.
The school quickly grew and Father Stephen O'Donough applied for a few Sisters of Mercy to come to Warwick. They arrived in 1874 and a long legacy began.
In 1911 the Christian Brothers were encouraged to teach in Warwick by Father Potter and they taught for many years in what was the Upper Campus in Palmerin Street.
In 1979 plans were made to amalgamate the two schools under the auspice of the Toowoomba Catholic Education system. The first lay principal was Mr Bailey Pashley.
From that date, the Lower Campus accommodated younger students, whilst the former Christian Brothers building accommodated the older students.
In 1993 St Mary's preschool began and in 2007 Prep replaced the preschool.
In 2013 St Mary’s Kindergarten opened in the adjoining grounds to the Upper Campus.
In 2019 St Mary's Outside of School Hours Care began.
After years of consultation, planning and support from parents, parish and the Toowoomba Catholic Schools Office, St Mary’s Lower and Upper Campuses came together on the former Upper Campus site in 2022.
We are now one school…one vision…one community!
